Madrid, Spain. Madrid’s Basque club has published the program of events for its Basque Week 2013 that will take place the beginning of October. This year the traditional Euskal Jaia at the Retiro Park will move to the Basque club and will be longer than usual. The goal of the change, according to the club, is double: on the one had “we want to highlight the great value of our clubhouse,” and on the other “highlight and honor the members who regularly participate in our activities.”
The program of provisional events follows:
· Monday 7, 20:00 in the Pello Aramburu room, presentation of the Un leon en El Foro prize to actor Julian Lopez (Muchachada nui), that is annually awarded, since 2012 by the Athletic fan club to a relevant person residing in Madrid that is distinguished by being an Athletic fan.
· Monday 7 from 20:30 on, first day of Activities dedicated to the Euskaltegi and the Athletic fan club and the Choir. Snacks will be provided (prepared by the Sagardi Restaurant) to everyone in attendance.
· Tuesday 8, 20:00 in the Pello Arambur room, “Jai ta Lan,” show by this London Basque club. Images and live music
· Wednesday 9 starting at 20:15, the second day of activities, dedicated to the soccer team, Mendi elkartea and Dantza taldea, snacks will again be provided.
· Thursday 10, 20:00 in the Pello Aramburu room, tertulia/round table “Basques in Madrid” moderated by Karmele Aranburu.
· Friday 11, 20:00, Finale at the Church of San Ignacio – coordinated performance of the Choir, Dance group (dantzaris to the rhythm of the choir). This event will also serve as a tribute to Pablo Beltran from Heredia, on the first anniversary of his death.
Throughout the week, there will also be an exhibit of paintings done by club members available to see in the exposition hall.
