London, England. The Basque club in London has put together a series of events and name them “Udako Jaiak” (Summer Festivals) for those who remain in August in London or visit the city these next weeks. For starters, on August 3rd, the group Gibelurdinek will perform on the street around the Broadway Market and London Fields, around noon. Afterwards, they will present their last album at a concert in downtown Haggerston.
Gibelurdinek is a self-managed project as explained to EuskalKultura.com by its members: “The project began in September of 2010 in a corner of the Cantabrian Sea, on the top of a mountain. It emerged in autumn, like those gibelurdinak [a much appreciated mushroom in the Basque Country],” they said.
They will be in London on August 3 as part of their European tour. “We presented an album at the Durango Azoka in 2012 with 22 songs. When we got the invitation from London’s Basque club, we decided to start a European tour to present our new work, to follow in Euskal Herria.” They will also play in Stonehenge and Edinburgh (for more information: www.gibelurdinek.wordpress.com.)
The Basque dance group from Villabona, Oinkari, will perform on August 7. They will perform, “Ari Du,” a mix of contemporary and classic dances from the Basque Country. The event will begin at 7pm (further information in their webpage)
Finally, the club wants to remind that Fermin Muguruzawill be in London for the third time on August 23 as part of his world tour “No More Tour 2013,” performing at “The Garage.”
