Barcelona, Catalonia. The Euskal Etxea of Barcelona has made public its very positive assessment of Literaldia 2012, in which the organization was very satisfied with how well the activities during the 30 days were received by the Catalan public. The center also highlighted the success of novelties in the area of social networking: the club proposed the creation of a series of micro-stories and collective tales via twitter and the response was very good. “We receive over 100 micro-stories, and more than 70 people participated in the creation of two macro-stories.
Another novelty worth noting was the publication of Orhipean. El país de la llengua vasca (Orhipean. The Country of the Basque Language), the Catalan version of a popular book on Euskal Herria [Orhipean literally means under Orhi, the highest mountain in the Basque Country]. The Euskal etxea co-edited together with Pamiela the book and its author, writer Xamar, was in Barcelona on Sant Jordi Day, signing copies of the book at the promenade Las Ramblas.
More in May and June
Happy with what has already been accomplished the Euskal Etxea will continue with its program of activities and has already made proposals for May and June. To begin, they will welcome musician Fermin Muguruza again, who will present his documentary series “Next Music Station,” at the center. Muguruza was at the last edition of the Zinemaldia festival, where he screened one of the chapters of the series “Next Music Station: Lebanon.” Now the members and friends of the Euskal Etxea will be able to see the rest of the episodes that will allow them to get to know the current music in countries like Morocco, Egypt, Tunisia and Yemen.
Additionally, the spring will also bring a cycle of performing arts with works like “Herio Heroi” a theater workshop. Information on all proposals, and others on the club’s blog: http://blog.euskaletxeak.org.
