The organizers as well as the participants all agree that the 2016 edition was one of the best ever of the Festival of Collectivities in Tres Arroyos, not just because of the size of the audience, but also because of the increase in the number of countries represented. The Hiru Erreka Basque Club was features at the festival and exhibited a complete panorama of the traditional culture of Euskal Herria.
Tres Arroyos, Argentina. The Festival of Collectivities in Tres Arroyos took place on August 28 at the “El Fanal” facilities. From the Commission of Foreign Collectivities, they agree that this year the festival surpassed all expectations, not only because it welcomed more than 1,500 people but also because the number of countries represented also increased providing more diversity in food, and shows for visitors.
In regards to the participation of the Basque community, Hiru Erreka, the Euskal Etxea from Tres Arroyos provided anyone visiting its stand the possibility of delving into various aspects of the culture of the Basque Country. The teacher from Hiru Erreka, Alfredo Laborde, was in charge of advising the public on Euskera, the origin of last names and to invite anyone interested in taking classes. The dantzaris had their moment on the stage with music provided by club dantzari and trikitilari Sara Urbieta. There was no shortage of souvenirs, and we can’t forget the cooks who prepared txistorra, tortilla, blood sausage, and pintxos for the event.
“It was a wonderful festival to tell the truth, our stand was distinguished by the amount of things that you could see and taste. We were there from 11am-8pm, and welcoming people and answering questions. We also sold our typical dishes, of course. We sold everything that we had prepared,” Alfredo Laborde told EuskalKultura.com.
