Last Sunday, March 2nd the Eskual Etxea in Paris joined in the Carnival parade for the first time, and did so successfully and very colorfully, thanks to the Lamina and Basajaun giants. The Basque club worked for weeks creating the mythological Basque characters in the largest size possible to lead the Basque contingent. Many friends of the club and Basques in Paris participated, dressed as men and women of the forest, or as laminak. We have included various photos published by the Paris Basque club on the internet.

Paris, France. Directors of the Pariseko Eskual Etxea (PEE) were very satisfied with how well their last event went last Sunday March 2nd, that gathered a large number of members and friends for the Carnival parade.  It was also the club’s debut in the parade, and according to the photos, it is clear that they left a mark.

The parade from the Basque club was led by two giant figures, Lamina and a Basajaun, that were the result of weeks of hard work at the Basque club.  The giants paraded amid a flurry of confetti, delighting viewers.

The parade route ran from the Gambetta Plaza to the Place de la Republique with the Basques adding color and atmosphere, with the help of dantzaris and musicians from Gazteria, one dressed as a joalduna and others in costume, and club members and friends from the Saint Ouen Quartier, where the clubhouse is located.   In summary, it was such a success that it will surely take place again next year.
