Lagun Onak, in Buenos Aires, invites everyone to a concert by the choral and to a voice workshop for the 2016 season

Today at 8pm there will be a concert concluding the choral workshop that is organized annually by the Lagun Onak Association in Buenos Aires.  This is its 7th edition, and had an enrollment of more than 40 participants.  The pieces chosen were the sacred works by Vivaldi.  The recital will take place at Laurak Bat Basque Club, and admission is free and open to the public.  Lagun Onak also let us know that auditions will begin in March and its first concert of 2016 will take place in April at the City’s Culture Konex. 

Buenos Aires, Argentina.   The Summer Choral Workshop organized by the Lagun Onak Association, that is celebrating its 7th edition this year, enjoyed a large number of participants that will say farewell today with a concert.

The intensive workshop is open to the public and began on February 15.  During six classes of three hours in duration, singers worked on the sacred works of Antonio Vivaldi for choir and instrumental groups.  Directed by Maestros Pablo Banchi and Miguel Pesce, the closing concert of the activity will be tonigh at 8pm at the Laurak Bat Basque club’s facilities (Belgrano 1144), admission is free and open to the public.

Auditions for the 2016 symphonic season

Lagun Onak also let us know that choir auditions will begin in March.  The audition is open to mezzo-sopranos, contraltos, tenors, baritones and basses, providing that “they have previous experience, a healthy voice that is in tune,” according to the invitation.  Anyone wishing to audition needs to make an appointment with the choir’s director, Miguel Pesce, by emailing: migpeshe@yahoo.com. Auditions will take place Monday through Thursday at 7:30pm.

The auditions will begin on the first Thursday in March and will take place Monday through Thursday from 8:00-10:00pm.  This season, 2016, the choir will be working on, among other pieces: Requiem de Mozart, Misa en Dom by Beethoven, 2° Sinfonía by Mahler and Requiem Alemán by Brahms. Choir performances will take place in renowned concert halls like the Ballena Azul at the Kirchner Cultural Center, the Usina del Arte and the College of Law at the University of Buenos Aires.  They will also perform at the City’s Cultural Konex, where the first concert of the season will take place, on Sunday April 17 at 7pm; as part of the 2nd Festival of Classical Music organized by the Cultural Center.

During the year, Lagun Onak will also perform its Basque repertoire at community festivals like at “Buenos Aires Celebrates the Basque Country,”  and other festivals organized by the Laurak Batfestival.  Their last concert of 2015 took place at the Ballena Azul at the Kirchner Cultural Center, performing the Misa de Requiem by Verdi for the first time in its history.  The show can be seen here.
