La Plata, Argentina. Korrika continues in the Basque Country and also in the Diaspora where activities to celebrate the race in favor of Euskera are taking place one after the other in various places around the world.
In the case of La Plata, Korrika 19 will take place this Saturday, March 28 at the Plaza Moreno, in front of the cathedral. The invitation is open to the entire community, especially Basque people, or those of Basque origin, interested in languages or culture like Euskera and the Basque culture. The event will begin at 4pm, and in hopes of encouraging people to participate, students of the lecturer at the UNLP made this video.
2015 Courses at the UNLP
For the 2015 academic year, courses will begin on April 6 at the Lecturer of Basque Language and Culture at the UNLP, as part of an agreement signed in 2008 by the Basque Government through the Etxepare Basque Institute and the National University of La Plata.
Classes will be taught in the afternoon, organized by level and will be taught by Dani Oiarbide. In regards to levels, beginners will be held on Wednesdays from 3:30-5:30, in the Postgraduate rooms at the College of Economic Sciences, beginning on April 8th. The Basque language and culture lecturer began in 2008 as part of an agreement between the Basque Government and the National University of La Plata. Since there, and until now, there have been more than 300 students who have, for various reasons and motivations taken classes to deepen their knowledge of the Basque language and culture.
It should also be noted that besides classes, the lecturer also organizes other events. “In 2014 we organized a large number of talks including those by Fito Rodriguez, Mikel Ezkerro, Elena Odriozola, Toti Martinez de Lezea Ángel Oiarbide and Txutxi Ariznabarreta. We also organized a txalaparta workshop and celebrated the International Day of Euskera…Without a doubt we will have a positive evaluation of our activities,” teacher Dani Oiarbide explains to EuskalKultura.com.
Basque language and culture classes are free and no prerequisites are required. Enrollment is now open and the ends on April 6 at 6pm.
