Donostia-San Sebastián. This original event in favor of the Basque culture and Euskera supported by the Iparra Hegoa Association began just over two months ago, on March 20th, in Argentina. Following the inaugural event organized by the Aberri Etxea Basque Club, the symbolic wooden box, full of dreams and wishes” flew from Europe on April 8th when it visited many Basque towns on both sides of the Pyrenees, including further away with a visit to Catalonia and Barcelona's Basque club. Now, the initiative has come to its final destination, and as it was present at its inauguration, the Diaspora will also be participating in the closure.
On the last day of its tour, two celebrations will take place in Urruña (Lapurdi) and Segura (Gipuzkoa). In Urruña, the event will be broadcast by Kanaldude with an interview with Rocio Basterra at the Aberri Etxea in Viedma y Patagones, in Argentina, and Gloria Zuazola, representative of the Euskal Erria Basque Club in Montevideo, Uruguay. In Segura, the participation of the Basque community abroad will be guaranteed by the showing of a video.
Pello Aranzabal Beitia, reference from Iparra-Hegoa, told EuskalKultura.eus that the participation of the Diaspora was a very important part of the entire Kutxa Bira adventure; “it was present in various ways at the activities at every stop. Especially the Basques in Argentina. Some of us were aware of the important work begin done in the Diaspora, but for many others this was their first exposure,” the spokesperson said.

The closing event of the Kutxa Bira will take place tomorrow, Saturday, May 29th, and can also be followed outside of the Basque Country. At 6pm Euskal Herria time, 1pm in Argentina and Uruguay and 9am in California, the broadcast will be available at this link kanaldude.eus/zuzenean.
