Venice, Italy. Jon Kortazar, Basque Literature Professor at the University of the Basque Country will be in Venice this week. He will participate in the cultural event, “Hiru, 3, Tree,” sponsored by the Basque lecturer at the University of Ca’Foscari. The events have been organized by lecturer Iñaki Alfaro and Professor Enric Bou.
Kortazar, literary critic and an expert on contemporary Basque literature, will give two talks in Venice this week. The first will take place tomorrow and will discuss “The image of Bilbao in contemporary Basque literature.” The day after, Kortzar’s presentation will focus on the relationship between “Basque literature and the civil war.”
The sessions, supported by the Etxepare Basque Institute, will continue on November 29 with a talk by Ilargi Olaiz Soto, professor of art history at the University of the Basque Country, entitled “From the New Aesthetic Basque cultural resurgence. Identity, Discourse, and Artistic Production in the Basque Country."
