Bilbao, Bizkaia. Literature Professor at the University of the Basque Country, Jon Kortazar, has published a study of Kirmen Uribe’s work that is entitled, Contemporary Basque literature: Kirmen Uribe´s Proposal (Iberoamericana-Veuvert). The book analyses the poetic and novelistic work of this Basque writer from Ondarroa, as well as his multi-media show.
The first chapter of the book takes a tour of Basque literature from recent years. Kirmen Uribe (Ondarroa 1970) is one of the best-known young Basque writers, both inside and outside the Basque Country.
Awarded the National Narrative Award and the Critics Award, his books have been translated into fourteen languages, including Spanish, English, French, Russian and Japanese. His novel, Bilbao-New York – Bilbao is used in various US universities.
