Mendoza, Argentina. The decision to cancel the Sanfermines 2020 has been a tough one for the people of Pamplona, but also for the Navarrese centers and communities around the world that wait every year anticipating July 7th to celebrate this great annual event with rockets, dances, food and of course in many cases gigantes-erraldoiak and cabezudos-buruhandiak
This year traditional plans had to be cancelled, but that doesn’t mean that there won’t be festivities or other celebrations, virtual or of whatever kind. In this way the Navarrese Club in Mendoza has proposed to its members and friends, and San Fermin fans in general a game to choose beginning this week, through July 7th which city in Navarre “is their favorite.”
To do this, the Club uploads daily a survey to its social media with two cities for its followers to choose, from. There are 32 cities in all, and every day the least supported city will be eliminated, until a very last one remains. People who vote can also tell if they have been in those cities and even share comments and photos. The game is available on the club’s Facebook, #CentroNavarroDeMendoza.
The Navarrese club in Mendoza also invites its txikis. The slogan is “Create your own Drawing of San Fermin 2020,” the club will receive these via its WhatsApp and will also publish these on its social media.
With less than a month left until the txupinazo that may or may not take place (at least not traditionally), the Centro Navarro in Mendoza does not rule out coming up with other proposals between now and Sanfermin 2021.
