The St. Nicholas Catholic Women from Rupert, Idaho have scheduled the 57th annual Basque Festival Dinner for this 21st of March. The program includes a dinner, an auction, a drawing, and a concert. This Basque event is the main fundraiser for the local school having raised, in recent years’ editions, up to $40,000. “We are lucky to have a very generous community, everybody wants to help, not just Catholics and Basques,” told Cyndy Berlin-Lantz, member of the organizing group, to EuskalKultura.com.

Rupert, ID, USA. The 57th annual Basque Festival Dinner, to be celebrated this Satuday, on March 21 as a fundraiser for the St Nicholas Catholic School, will be full of gifts: on the one hand, the donations made by the attendees, expected to be around 500, and, on the other hand, all the items –some of which are of great value− that will be auctioned or given in the draw. “And this year, for the first time ever, we’ll be auctioning two hotel rooms at the Hampton Inn in Boise, Idaho and tickets to one of the Jaialdi Festival 2015 events,” pointed out Berlin-Lantz.

Alongside those two great items, attendees will have the opportunity to get an original oil painting by local artist Robert Moore, two VIP tickets and camping pass for the 2015 Mountain Home Country Music Festival (three days of top country artists including Blake Shelton, Brad Paisley, and Florida Georgia Line), handcrafted quilts, sheepherder bread, antique furniture, an eBook, a hotel room for two people at the local Drift Inn Bed and Breakfast, a dinner for two people at the same location, a basket full of top wines, chocolates and gift cards, and a $250-worth gift certificate accepted at “any store, national chain, or restaurant,” in the words of the organization.

As if this was not enough, the “successful” phantom lamb will also be auctioned. A lamb that, traditionally, is given back to the organizers to be auctioned several times, making the fundraising even more profitable. “The Phantom Lamb is very successful. We usually make between three and five thousand dollars just with that. It’s an opportunity to make the auction more fan for those who want to help,” stated Berlin-Lantz.

The auction is programmed to kick off at 8:30 p.m., but before that, at 6:00 p.m., diners will enjoy a menu prepared by Steve Trevino that includes leg of lamb, Basque rice, chorizo with garbanzo beans, and carrots, green beans and salad. And once the auction and draws will be done, there will be live music by Wild Night that will perform onstage until 1:00 a.m.

Prices

Ticket for the whole night: $25
Tickets for the drawing: 6 tickets for $5
Cover charge if not eating: $5
