Oberá, Argentina. As part of the” Day of the Immigrant” festivities, the city of Oberá also held a commemorative event where they awarded immigrants who had been in the country for 50 years. One of the awardees was Maria Isabel Beitia, a founding member of the Euskal Jatorri Basque club in Posadas. She was accompanied by several members of the club’s board of directors who travelled to Oberá to share in this exciting event.
The day began with a long parade of immigrant communities, including a group from Euskal Jatorri, through the streets to the center of the city ending at the Parque de las Naciones. The Basque group included both children and adults dressed in typical costumes.
