The Consistorial Building at city hall in Valparaiso will welcome the inauguration of the exhibit “The Bombing of Gernika,” on April 26th. The exhibit, created by the Peace Museum in Gernika, is sponsored by the local Eusko Etxea, the Delegation of Euskadi in Chile, Peru and Colombia, and the city itself. Along with the exhibit’s opening, the documentary Markak will also be shown.
Viña del Mar, Chiile. The highest authorities from the institutions that promote and organize the event – Jorge Sharp Fajardo, Mayor of Valparaiso, Rafael Kutz Garaizabal, Delegate of Euskadi in Chile, Peru and Colombia, and Eñaut Gereñu, president of the Valparaiso Eusko Etxea – invite everyone to participate in the inauguration of the exhibit on April 26th at 7:30pm.

2018 Schedule
En el capítulo de fiestas y celebraciones, inauguró el calendario el pasado 28 de marzo con la celebración de Aberri Eguna. Además de la conmemoración la próxima semana de un nuevo aniversario del bombardeo de Gernika con los actos ya referidos en esta nota, hará honor en julio a una de sus fiestas más arraigadas, que festeja desde su fundación como centro, Iñaki Deuna o San Ignacio.
The local Basque club in Viña-Valparaiso has also published its 2019 schedule of event. In regards to festivals and celebrations, the calendar began on March 28th with the celebration of Aberri Eguna. Besides the commemoration next week of another anniversary of the Bombing of Gernika with events that have been referred to at the beginning of the note, the club will celebrate in July one of its most deeply-rooted events, the celebration since its founding, Iñaki Deuna or Saint Ignatius.
Celebrations will also include, for the first time, Diaspora Eguna, on September 8th, while in December specifically 6-9, they will organize Semana Vasca around ENE, Euskararen Nazioarteko Eguna or the International Day of Euskera, on December 6th.
Besides these gatherings, the Basque club will also continue with its usual activities, including Basque classes on Tuesdays and Thursdays; Mus lessons on Thursday; Library on Fridays, Saturdays and Mondays; Emakunde meetings on Fridays; dinners at the Txoko on the first Thursday of the month….They will continue to add activities throughout the year and will continue to work on dance classes and the film series.
