José C. Paz, Argentina. The third edition of the Conference on Migration at the National University in Jose C. Paz (UNPaz) entitled, “Cartographies in Movement: Memories, Violence and Resistance.” included a panel on Basque-Argentine Diaspora with representatives from different areas of the community including María Ángeles Oñederra, Pilar Uribeondo, Darío Rodríguez and Martín Colombet, from the Toki Eder Basque Club; Delegate of Euskadi in Argentina, Sara Pagola and Sabrina Otegui, representing EuskalKultura.com
During the presentations, the representatives from the Basque community talked about various subjects like Basque immigration to Argentina, the Basque Government, by Pagola; the situation of Euskera and Euskera in Argentina, by Colombet and Rodriguez; the history of the Toki Eder Basque Club by Oñederra and Uribeondo, and the work by EuskalKultura.com, presented by Otegui. In regards to the audience, the conference wasn’t only attended by members of the club and university but also by members of the Eusko Aterpea Basque Club in Gral. Rodriguez.
After the talks and roundtable, authorities from UNPaz met with Sara Pagola and Mariana Satostegui. At the meeting, the university members expressed special interest in the current situation of Euskadi, in particular in relation to innovation, science and technology. As part of the event, the José C.Paz Basque club reported on its activities as well to the university, in hopes of strengthening ties between the two institutions.
