Signups for Hator Hona 2016 were opened yesterday.  The program will take place from July 15-August 7 in Necochea, Argentina.  The proposal is directed to young Basque people who have knowledge of Euskera and various aspects of the culture of Euskal Herria.  Anyone interested should send your information by April 29.  The Euzko Etxea, site of Semana Vasca 2016, has also let us know that they have chosen the logo for the festivities. 

Necochea, Argentina.   This successful formula was devised by young people in Necochea in 2004, and continues to grow year after year, and so will once again take place in 2016. The invitation goes to youth in the Basque Country between the ages of 18 and 30, who can travel to Necochea to share their knowledge and feelings about the culture of Euskal Herria with their peers.  The deadline to apply is April 29 and the stay will take place from July 15-August 7. 

The criteria to participate include:

-be between the ages of 18 and 30
-have knowledge of Euskera, Basque music, dancing, food or rural Basque sports
-degrees are not required only experience, knowledge and the desire to share that with others
-participant is responsible for travel costs to Necochea with the local Basque club taking care of room and board

In regards to this year’s edition, Marcial Agostini Zubillaga explained to EuskalKultura.com that the organization will maintain the same format as before.  “New things will be announced later on, when the participants are already here, according to how planning goes and what is proposed,” Marcial said.  Youth in the Basque Country interested in participating should get in touch with the organizers via their blog.  News and updates will also be published on the blog and on Facebook:  Hator Hona Project.

Semana Vasca 2016 Logo

The Euzko Etxea also published the image that it will use to publicize Semana Nacional Vasca 2016.  The work chosen by the jury in the contest was done by Maria Jose Rossi Istueta who presents the head of the Basque club under the shelter of the Argentine and Basque flags in her design.  The jury also gave the logo presented by Horacio Marotto Etchezahar special mention.

Semana Nacional Vasca 2016 will take place November 7-13 in Necochea with the local club hosting.
