The Basque club shared its upcoming activities from the stand as well including the Basque film series, on April 27th.
Concepción del Uruguay, Argentina. The “Expo Conception 2018,” ran April 13-15 and gathered representatives from the area of industry, business and services. The exhibit was inaugurated by Provincial Governor, Gustavo Bordet, and also welcomed other authorities all weekend long including the Minister of Agro-Industry of the Nation, Luis Etchevehere.
With more than one hundred exhibitors, the local Ibai Txori Basque Club was the only foreign community represented. According to Marcelo Etchecoin, the invitation was extended to other communities, but the Basques were the only ones to accept it. “In regards to our stand, we were visited by more than 1,000 people, as the expo usually draws nearly 20,000 thousand. They visited us looking for information on last names, as well as to see our photographic exhibit on Basque farmhouse and traditional instruments that we had there. We also invited people to participate in our activities and they were pleasantly surprised when we told them that they didn’t have to be Basque to participate,” Etchecoin said.
At the stand, the club also provided some food offerings. On this occasion, the club cooks prepared sukalki, pintxos, cakes, Gateau Basque, and apple pie. They also announced the upcoming segment of their Basque film series on April 27th at the clubhouse with Handia. The event will begin at 8:30pm at 14 de julio 83.
