With the end of the year looming and the warmth of the Christmas holidays, Lehendakari Iñigo Urkullu and President Uxue Barkos have addressed their respective constituents in two Christmas and New Year messages. Both reviewed the passing year, and are betting on the New Year, sending their warmest wishes, in both written and video form. We didn't learn about a similar message from Jean Rene Etchegaray, President of the commonwealth of Iparralde.
Donostia-San Sebastian. In the case of the Lehendakari, this week he had addressed a broad representation of different sectors of Basque society at a ceremony that took place on Wednesday at the Lehendakaritza in Vitoria-Gasteiz. At the reception that is organized every year, and attended by the full government, he appeared before the various members of the business, political and institutional, cultural, educational and social worlds with his Christmas message that balanced his good wishes along with especially stressing Basque auzolan, community work, to win the future.
In Navarre, President Uxue Barkos, also delivered a Christmas message addressed to her constituents with a review of the year, and the first half of the legislature, also expressing her good wishes for the New Year and as Lehendakari Urkullu did so in the community’s two languages alternating between Basque and Spanish.
Here are the written texts of both messages, that of Uxue Barkos, and Iñigo Urkullu.
Lehendakari Urkullu also delivered a specific message to the Diaspora in a letter that we have attached here in Basque, Spanish, French and English.
