“Barbau hamalau” an artistic creation driven by local artists that renews the forms and codes of the pastorals and the maskaradas, will be presented this Wednesday and Thursday in Ozaze, Zuberoa. The show has been supported by the cultural collective Hebentik, and was written by artist, Dominika Rekalt. The work is a mix of dance, music and theater. Prior performances were cancelled, on July 4-5, due to flooding, but this week anyone wishing to see it will have another opportunity to enjoy this unique proposition.

Ozaze, Zuberoa.  Last July 4-5th the presentation of “Barbau Hamalau” had to be cancelled, due to the bad weather and flooding suffered in different areas of the Basque Country, including the area of Ozaze, in Zuberoa.  Nevertheless, the promoters of this work, who have renewed the tradition of the pastoral and maskaradas, decided to give spectators another opportunity to see it.  The show will take place this week, on Wednesday and Thursday, also in Ozaze, starting at 9:30pm.

Organizers explained that the spectators who had purchased tickets for the cancelled shows can use them at either of these performances, as long as they re-reserve in advance, as space is limited.

“Berbau Hamalau” was written by Dominika Rekalt and includes the participation of several local artists, like CNAS, dancers Jamal and Hosni M’Hanna, the group Suak, Kakots (scenography) and Pierre Vissler (sound).  The organization is run by the Zuberoan cultural collective Hebentik.  Here is a video made by Kanaldude Television:
