Buenos Aires, Argentina. The tutorial, a short film “A recipe almost as old as the mate hole,” is a project of Fernanda Sanjurio Olavarria, A/V producer from Uruguay that has lived in Argentina for the last two years. As much from Rio Plata as the star drink of the film, Fernanda has had to explain innumerable times to outsiders what mate is, thus the origin of the project.
In the words of the director and script writer, “the goal is to share the récipe with the whole world, supporting the concept of culture sharing,” she told EuskalKutlura.com. That is why this short is translated into 16 languages, and has a goal of 100.
The translation into Basque was done by the Euskaltegi Euskaltzaleak in Buenos Aires, specifically by Mariana Arla, Julieta Gaztañaga and Elsa Usandizaga’s students with the support of the entire teacher team. “The project,” concludes its creator, “isn’t for profit, and is just another grain of sand in the information that exists about the mate ritual.”
