The initiative of Euzko Etxea members, María Fernanda Astigarraga, and her daughter, Maitena Etcheverry, who create Basque t-shirts for all ages, from infant through adult painted by hand, “with much love and dedication.” As they explained to EuskalKultura.eus, “the idea arose as a way to share the Basque culture through clothing and to respond to the demand for this type of articles, that when it was possible to travel, we tried to buy in Euskal Herria.”
“Haritza,” (oak tree) is the name they chose “to represent the tradition and identity but also the toughness and persistence of the Tree of Gernika,” baptized by fire at the “Vereda Sale,” organized by the Matxin Burdin Library.
