Montevideo, Uruguay. Dantzaris from the Eusko Indarra dance group represented the club and the community at the celebration of the 85th anniversary of the local Alpenländerverein-Alpean Club. This club gathers immigrants that speak German who came from the Alps. After the dance performance that included dances like “Ipar Haizea jauntzi,” “Tafallako Jota,” and “Waltz from the Valley of Erro,” and “Imotz,” the hosts thanked them for their participation and presented Haize Hegoa club president, Maite Bengoa, with a gift (anniversary photos here).
Haize Hegoa contacted EuskalKultura to let us know that next Wednesday, and for the next three Wednesdays, the club will show the following Basque films: The Death of Mikel, Amama, and Eternal Fire. In addition, on Saturday the 15th there will be a talk for the youth and on Sunday the 16th, the sukaldaris will prepare paella to sell and raise money for the club.
Finally, approaching the date of the solstice, and as every year, Haize Hegoa is finalizing details for its San Juan bonfire. The celebration will be on Sunday June 23rd at 7pm at the clubhouse. To conclude June, Friday the 28th Haize Hegoa will give another talk at the Casona de Punta Carretas.
