Donostia-San Sebastian. The agreement was signed on December 17th at HABE’s headquarters in Donostia with Martin Goicoechea, NABO Euskera Chair and Kinku Zinkunegi, coordinator of the Euskara Munduan Program for HABE present. According to HABE, teachers trained in the US and Canada will follow the group that began in 2010 as part of the Euskara Munduan program. Two kinds of training will take place. On the one hand, there will be a teacher get-together in Boise ON February 21 and 22 where they can share their experiences and standardize criteria.
On the other, the group that started from zero in September of 201 will continue its training, online during the year as well as face to face at the barnetegi that will take place in June. HABE will provide teachers classroom materials for the first three levels as well as materials in Basque and English for classroom use as well as online.
In all, as part of the Euskara Munduan program that will begin the 2013-14 term, more than 19,453 teaching hours have been made possible thanks to the agreement signed with HABE this year with Basque clubs and federations. This year, tow more Basque clubs have joined the program: the Center for Basque Culture Gure Mendietakoak (Colombia) and Bruselako Euskal Etxea (Belgium). With them there are some 80 clubs who teach basque to more than 2,400 adult students.
