The Gure Txoko Basque club in Valladolid, Spain inaugurated its clubhouse 32 years ago and since then, it has become the social center of a group of Basques. Recently, 50 members gathered to celebrate the anniversary with a meal followed by an acoustic concert by a group of its Basque students. The performance was wonderful, according to club sources, mixing old and new songs like “Ilargia” or “Negua Joan da ta.” Zorionak Gure Txoko!
Valladolid, Spain. The Gure Txoko clubhouse has been the meeting point for the local Basque community for the last 32 years, and to celebrate that, club members got together this Saturday for an informal and relaxed evening, to have a great time. The day began with dinner and entertainment, and then came a nice surprise: an acoustic concert by some of the Basque students.
The students are also musicians and play with other groups in the city. They were Maria Cuenca, Martin Alonso (Chamanitos, Los Nadie) and David (Mestizo). Gure Txoko also emphasized that it was exam time, and so only had a week to prepare for the concert. Yet they still succeeded!
The club’s mix of songs was very well-like combining some old one with some more recent rock hits. Here is the list:
- Ilargia
- Zapalduen olerkia
- Menpe
- El miedo
- Lau teilatu
- Ez dago barroterik
- Nostalgia
- Ikusi mendizaleak
- Noizbait
- Negua joan da ta
- Ostatuko neskatxaren koplak
- Guk euskaraz, zuk zergatik ez
