A hundred people gathered to celebrate the 66th anniversary of the Gure Etxea Basque club. The festivities began at 11am at the Plaza Martin Rodriguez and concluded in the evening at the clubhouse with a mus tournament, also truco and escoba. While preparing to say goodbye to 2015, members and friends of the club enjoyed an entire day of song, music, dance and a great Basque party atmosphere.
Tandil, Arentina. Divided into two blocks, the celebration began in the morning on the last Sunday of November with a dance show on the Plaza Martin Rodriguez in front of the Basque club. In hopes of showing the community its typical activities, the organizers presented a show to complete the event: a demonstration of Herri Kirolak but for the kids, the txikis of the club.
After the first part of the event, and after a pintxo tasting in the plaza, everyone present went to the clubhouse for lunch. Dantzaris and Basque students, members and friends of the club enjoyed a BBQ and after dinner joined in singing traditional songs from the Basque Country accompanied by club musicians.
Former president, Isidro Legarreta, also passed the baton to the new president, his wife, Maria del Carmen Didart, who will serve during 2016. The event ran all day Sunday, with music, raffles, a mus tournament, as well as the classic truco and escoba.
