The club is rushes to renovate the facade of its upper floors, giving them a form of a Basqie traditional farmhouse.  The goal is to have a “txoko” or bar and so enormous energy and resources are being invested.  With this goal in mind, they have begun work and so the clubhouse will not be available during the month of November.  In December, it will return to normal in order to celebrate the International Day of Euskera and the New Year celebration.

Rio Cuarto, Argentina.   At an event in September that gathered representatives from the provincial government, the Gure Ametza Basque club received a grant of one hundred thousand pesos for work on the façade of the institution.  In this way, and using the help received, along with funds raised by the club itself, they are carrying out the renovation of the front of the building that includes thick and thin plastering on the exterior as well as opening up two windows on the first floor.  After this is completed, the second step will be to continue on this floor building a txoko and closing the windows on the third floor of the interior patio at the entrance with shutters so that it will resemble a farmhouse in the Basque Country.

“The grant has helped us a lot with this long awaited project, to which we have added the funds that we have raised, the result of a year long’s work with food tastings, paellas and tabernas. That is why we would also like to thank our members and friends who have supported us,” club sources said.

Looking to the future, the Basque club plans to continue construction, specifically on the roof of the third floor.  “This will be the section that will require the most sacrifice but we appeal to our members and friends, who will be invited to our upcoming events,” Gure Ametza sources said.  In regards to activities at the clubhouse, they will be suspended through the month of November due to construction, and will resume at the beginning of December with the celebration of the International Day of Euskera set for December 4 at 10:00pm, ”with pintxos, beverages and good music.”
