New York, NY USA. A couple of weeks ago we published an article on the mural for the walls of the New York Eusko Etxea (EENY) by Basque artist Guillermo Zubiaga who is settled in the Big Apple. At that time, the mural was just a project, designed by the artist on his computer, although preparations were beginning to move it to the walls of the EENY headquarters.  Since then, there has been progress since the cartoonist from Barakaldo has begun working on moving from the sketch to the wall canvas.

The pencil strokes of several of the characters represented are already visible

In the photos that accompany this notice, the pencil lines on some of the walls that define the Basque athletes are distinguishable, including an Aizkolari, Harrijasotzaile and Pilotari. The process will take on a rhythm of its own, and the artist will continue his work next week. Zubiaga confessed to EuskalKultura.eus that he is very excited about this work of art and he can’t wait to return to the Eusko Etxea, and complete the mural that will decorate and contribute to the EENY in a special way.
