Cosquín, Argentina. With the participation of 16 musicians from Argentine Basque clubs in Bahía Blanca, Córdoba (Gerora), Buenos Aires (Laurak Bat), Mar del Plata, Necochea, San Nicolás and Villa María, the 2nd Gathering of Active Musicians was held last weekend, September 14-15 organized by FEA. The event was co-organized by the Gerora Association and its musicians including members of the Baietz group who reunited for the occasion. During the entire weekend, the Community Holistic Center “Barro tal vez,” in Cosquin was the site of rehearsals for the musicians that worked hard in ensembles on instruments like the txistu, danbolina, pandero, alboka, trikitixa, accordion, silbote and xirula.
In the words of Elba Mocoroa, from Gerora and FEVA, “It was a very special gathering that took place in a very special place on the shores of the river and with the Pan de Azucar Hill as a backdrop. Cosquin is a city that has a strong link to music and this gave the encounter a spatial color. On Friday night, as one of Gerora’s activities we screened Nomadak TX attended by a large audience, the same that also came on Saturday to hear us play.”
FEVA would like to thank the musicians and highlight the coordination done by txistulari from Laurak Bat, Jose Maria Gutierrez. They would also like to thank Gerora and Elba Mocoroa for their assistance with the event.
