The first concert on the program will take place tomorrow, Friday, at the Chapel of the College of Euskal Echea in the capital, while the others will take place in two touristic destinations in the south of the country, Ushuaia and Iguazu. During the performances the singers will perform a varied repertoire with sacred pieces as well as Basque folkloric and international pieces.
Buenos Aires, Argentina. Every year, the Chamber Choir Gaztelupe from Donostia organizes tours that combine tourism and artistic presentations in hopes of introducing the world to Basque music. These experiences have taken the group to all corners of the globe from China to Chile, the United States to this year, 2015 to Ushuaia also known as “the last city at the end of the world.”
As part of their new tour, twelve members of Gaztelupe will arrive to Argentina accompanied this time by a group of more than 40 people, mainly from Gipuzkoa. Their performance program includes a concert this Friday, October 9 at the Chapel of the College of Euskal Echea in Buenos Aires, located on Sarandí 735. The free concert will begin at 19:30.
The second concert will take place on October 15 in the city of Ushuaia, the capital of the southern province of Tierra del Fuego. The concert will take place at the Parish of Mercy whose priest if Miguel Echamendi from Navarre. At both concerts the choir will perform a varied repertoire with sacred pieces as well as Basque folkloric and international pieces as well.
The last stop will take place at the other side of the country. On October 19 Gaztelupe will begin saying farewell to Argentina in Iguazu, at the foot of the Cataratas. The choir will entertain at a farewell dinner at the Hotel Grand Crucero, with traditional songs from the Basque songbook and where soloists will perform their favorites in the festive Basque program.
Besides performing on these dates, the group will also visit Calafate and its impressive glacier, Perito Moreno. Gaztelupe invites everyone to attend their concerts, especially those in the Basque community and each locality that they will visit.
