Bego Miñaur/Donostia-San Sebastian. Trikitilari, Kepa Junkera, and accordionist Chango Spasiuk will begin a mini-tour tomorrow in Manresa with the show Sea of Bellows." Spasiuk, from Misiones, plays chamamé, a traditional style of music and dance from the region, whose influence has reached Brazil as well as Uruguay. Traditional Guarani dance and music is at its origins, but successive influences, as diverse as the contribution of the Jesuit Missionaries, African rhythms and that of Jewish immigrants are also noted.
The musicians promise to deliver “a gathering of friends, with traveling bellows sailing on a ship carrying polkas, fandangos, martxas….and an invitation to dance on its deck (…) two worlds where music has room for oral transmission, which is played in the backyards of our parents, grandparents and neighbors. Rural music that is at times happy, and others that is profoundly melancholy: a sound that always connects us to hope.”
The show will be presented at the following concerts;
-October 6, Manresa: Fira Mediterrania. Teatre Kursaal. Sala gran - 21:00. More info.: here.
-October 8: Madrid, Sala Galileo Galilei. 21:00. More info.: here.
