Beginning in 1949 due to a Government's decree, every September 4th tribute is paid to immigrants all over Argentina. And even if this is the official date, festivities run all month long, organized by collectivities in every city and town. Celebrations this year included some novelties in the case of the Basque community. These include the Festival of Collectivities in Ushuaia that had a Basque stand for the first time.
Buenos Aires, Argentina. Communities work hard all year long to prepare community activities. One of their main events has to do with the Festival of Collectivities. In the case of the Basques, and Basque clubs many celebrate presenting dancing and food stands. At the 2017 Festival of Collectivities there are some novelties: In the south corner of the country, in Ushuaia, the Basque Country had a stand at the event for the first time since it started 14 years ego. In Comodoro Rivadavia, youth from the local Haize Dantzariak group performed, and in Puerto Madryn the Basques closed the event. On the other side of the country, in the Province of Misiones, the Euskal Jatorri Basque Club in Posadas, and the Euskal Etxea in Corpus Christi joined forces to represent the Basques and carry the Ikurriña at the National Immigrant Festival in Obera.
