With the year coming to an end, we are still receiving photos of International Euskera Day celebrations from all over the world.  This last segment includes photos from the festivities at the Basque Community of Chile in Santiago, and activities at the Aldaxka Association in Montevideo, that took to the streets to introduce the Basque language to residents there (and later went to dinner).

Donostia-San Sebastian.   The Basque Community of Chile, with headquarters in Santiago, celebrated Euskera Day on December 1 with a party that united music, dance and the Basque language. The club’s choir and the dance group were the stars of the day, with a concert/show that received warm applause.  Afterwards the entity renewed its agreement with HABE for Basque instruction in the presence of Kinku Zinkunegi coordinator of Euskara Munduan.  On behalf of the Chilean association, president Rossana Arza was in charge of signing the agreement.

On the other hand, in Montevideo, the Aldaxka Kultur Biltzarra Association celebrated on December 3 and members of the entity took to the streets to inform people about Euskera in the Uruguayan capital.  As they explained to EuskalKultura.com, their goal was to meet people and transmit their message, face to face, in order to talk to them about Basque and the importance of preserving and maintaining it.  That night, members gathered for dinner where there was great ambience and singing of Basque songs with the help of a songbook, for those who didn’t know them by heart.
