Donostia-San Sebastian. Images of Korrika continue to arrive from around the world, organized by Basques in the Diaspora and by Basque students at various foreign universities. From Mexico, for example, we received these photos of events organized by the Basque community and the Basque Language and Culture lecturer at UNAM that took place on Monday.
The event, which gathered more than 50 people dressed in Korrika 18 bibs, ran a short race through the Xochimilco canals. More photos can be found here: VascosMexico.com (after free registration).

From Shanghai to Santiago to Montevideo
In China, the Basques at the Shanghai Euskal Etxea also joined the race with a run through the streets of Ningbo, close to Shanghai. It is an industrial city, where many Basques work, and last Saturday they decided to publicize the Basque language, to the surprise of residents who came across them. Diario Vasco published this video of the race.

In Santiago, Chile, Korrika was organized by the Euzko Etxea, the Etxepare Institute and the Delegation of Euskadi with Support from AEK. “The event gathered around 70 people: Basques who work in Chile, those who came looking for work, on vacation, Chileans whose grandparents were Basque, Basque students and professors in Chile…but most of all, youth from Euskal Herria, who, for one reason or another, were in Santiago. People from Valparaiso, also participated,” Iker Aurtenetxe told us from the Delegation.
Korrika started at the Delegation of Euskadi and after crossing the Providencia neighborhood, ended at the Euzko Etxea after completing nearly 7 kilometers (at an hour and a half, more or less). “We had problems with the music, but finally it was the txistulari who made the race more bearable. After people rested, the manifesto was read by Basque students in Chile (from Basque clubs as well as universities), followed by a meal of empanadas, potatoes with chorizo, ice cream, coffee and Patxaran,” Iker said.

In Montevideo, the Euskal Erria Basque club gathered several members and friends to celebrate the occasion with a festive day. The event began in the morning with a race through the maritime district of the city, and continued to a meal and pilota matches at the Basque-Uruguayan Euskal Erria Club headquarters.
