Buenos Aires, Argentina. The Iparraldeko Euskal Etxea is celebrating its 125th anniversary in an unusual way do to COVID-19. But “A run that exceeds 100 years should be celebrated,” so members of the club’s Sub-Commission of Culture, led by Norma Rios, will do so with an activity that is already a classic among literary fans that also complies with the preventative measures in place today, view the evolution of the pandemic there, meaning they have to be followed more stringently than ever/
The VI International Narrative Contest is aimed at individuals who are 18 and older, and the theme is “Emotions.” Deadline to submit works is September 25, 2020. Prizes include a medal and a certificate for the top three winners; a certificate for fourth and fifth place, and special mentions. Contest results will be published on October 30th and the awards ceremony has yet to be determined. The jury is comprised of names affiliated with Basque literature and culture like Professor Mikel Ezkerro, Rosa Miscicagna, French translator; and engineer, Carlos Bordagaray.
2020 without the Sorgin Afaria
Along with this news, and with much regret from the Sub -Commission of Culture, they have confirmed that due to the current situation, one of its most animated festivities ahs been canceled, the Sorgina Afaria – Witch Dinner, that they usually hold close to San Juan. Hang in there friends! We will all miss the costumes and atmosphere, but we will celebrate doubly next year!
