Mexico City, Mexico. The Baztan community in Mexico has something special when year after year several hundred people gather to celebrate Baztango Eguna. Families of the natives of this region in Navarre have very strong ties with their roots and of course, the enthusiasms and commitment of this group to organize the festival every year, which manages to gather a large number of countrymen.
This year, the club fronton filled once again on May 1st, at the 11th edition of the festivities. The Baztan community in Mexico attended the event to share with friends, and “above all,” according to organizers, “to enjoy a typical Baztan menu,” that included: “Baztan zopa, piperade, lamb stew, Solomillo with asparagus sauce, and apple pie a la mode.

The day began around 2pm at the fronton where guests were greeted, nearly 200 in all including children, youth and adults. As soon as they arrived people went to the Txoko directly where they enjoyed a typical aperitif to get into a more festive mood.

“Little by little diners started taking their seats and enjoying the menu. And so as the saying goes, “full belly, happy heart,” it was time for dessert, where great atmosphere reigned among friends,” organizers told EuskalKultura.com.
Some “talked,” while others played mus and some even got up to dance a jota and the zortziko. The day ran into the night, and after refueling with a sandwich, the revelers continued into the morning hours. The party was a complete success, according to organizers “now all that is left to say is, not long until Baztango Eguna 2015!”
