San Francisco, CA, USA. The Federation of Basque Entities in the United States (NABO, North American Basque Organizations) and the New England Basque Club (NEBC) have decided to postpone convention in New London, for a second year in a row, until 2022. The NABO Convention in 2020 was scheduled to be hosted by the NEBC, who has been preparing to host it enthusiastically and with much dedication, especially since this would have been the first time that the Convention would have been held on the East Coast.
Last year, due to the pandemic, it was cancelled and in agreement with the other Basque clubs, it was decided to again dedicate the convention to the New England Basque Club in 2021. This year, the NEBC has made it this far without canceling, but with the August dates approaching, and considering that there is no guarantee that it can take place on those dates with the desired number of attendees and with sanitary guarantee, last Saturday the national and local entities made the mutual decision to postpone the celebration in New London until 2022.
Therefore, in 2021 the traditional NABO Annual National Convention in New London will not be held as announced and instead, it will be the city of South San Francisco that will include the NABO annual Convention festivities in its annual celebration held in August. Much in the same way as Jaialdi in Boise that was postponed from 2020 to 2021, and finally to August of 2022.
