Five Basque restaurants included among the best 100 in the world and Eneko Atxa is voted as 2015 best young chef

The Elite Traveler magazine that specializes in food and travel published its 2015 ranking that includes five Basque restaurants among the 100 best in the world.  Four of these are in the Basque Country while the fifth is in Mexico.  They are, with their ranking: Azurmendi (3rd), Mugaritz (28th), Biko (36), Martin Berasategui (63) and Arzak (67). The magazine has also designated Eneko Atxa, chef/owner of Azurmendi in Larrabetzu (Bizkaia) as the 2015 best young chef in the world.

Donostia-San Sebastian.  It is well-known that these kinds of rankings and classifications take risks and commit injustices, but thinking that always work as a reference.  we are bringing here the results of this list published in Elite Traveler. It includes five Basque restaurants among the best 100 in the world (some other lists include a higher number of Basque entries) and it has also highlightes Eneko Atxa currently one of the most unique Basque chefs, as the 2015 young chef of the year. The magazine also interviewes Atxa and publishes the result.

To begin with the list, let’s say that Elite Traveler places Alinea in Chicago, IL at the top, with its chef Grant Achatz; in second place is Girona (Catalonia) El Celler de Can Roca, with chef Joan Roca; while third place goes to  Azurmendi in Larrabetzu, in the Basque Country owned by Eneko Atxa.

Along with them, on the list of the top 100 restaurants in the world are Mugaritz in Errenteria, led by chef Andoni Luis Aduriz (# 28); in Mexico City Biko  (#36) with chefs Gerard Bellver, Mikel Alonso and Bruno Oteiza; Martín Berasategui  with chef Martín Berasategui (#63) in Lasarte; and Arzak in Donostia-San Sebastian (#67) with Juan Mari Arzak.

In addition, Eneko Atxa, won a double award being designated as third best restaurantand as the best young chef of the year. So that's is the magazine included the interview.
