The Euzko Etxea’s fronton, in Santiago, was full of enthusiasm, laughs and yells on July 25 when it celebrated its first popular Olympics. Herri-Olinpiadak. The activity included participation by a lot of youth that competed in the sokatira, txingas, lokotzak and fun games like sack races. The great atmosphere will continue at the club this Sunday with the celebration of Iñaki Deuna.
Santiago, Chile. The Santiago Basque club is experiences a busy July with various activities. On July 25 it held its first Popular Olympics organized by Basque club youth. The fronton was the scene for the games that included lokotzak, txingak, sokatira…as well as sack races, musical chairs and a giant game of Twister.
The club is now looking forward to its next celebration that will take place this weekend with the San Ignacio festivities, or Iñaki Deuna, that has a long tradition in the Basque-Chilean community.

-11:00am: High mass sung by the Euzko Etxea choir with the participation of the “Itxaropen Gaztea” dance group at the Church of Madres Agustinas, Vicuña Mackenna in front of Santa Victoria Street.
-12:00pm: Basque Pelota Tournament finals at the Trinkete
-1:00pm. Performance by club choir and dancers at the fronton.
-2:00pm: Family lunch in the rooms on the second floor of the Basque club
