Buenos Aires, Argentina. Even if there is no Semana Vasca so no Basque Choirs Gathering this year, FEVA has kept this in mind when considering its virtual proposals, paying attention to this activity that continues to grow every year in Basque clubs. This is why they have organized a workshop on November 14th at 6pm for Basque choir directors entitled “El Coro no me mira,” (The Choir doesn’t look at me).
The workshops hopes to provide some basic tools for putting together and directing a choir. Some of the topics to be addressed include a) guidelines for studying a work; b) practice techniques; c) gestural direction techniques; d) applied vocal techniques; and e) working teaching resources.
Teaching the course is Maestro Miguel Pesce, Director of the Lagun Onak Choir Association in Buenos Aires, a group with a 80 year career considered a reference in choral music, not just in the community but also at national and international levels. FEVA would especially like to thank Lagun Onak president, Nerea Arza, for her management in carrying out the workshop.
Clubs interested in participating should enroll with FEVA (secretaria@feva.com.ar) and include the name of the club, and choir director's name, address, telephone and email; as well as any music studies completed. The email should also include a review of the choir’s activity and indicate pieces that make up its repertoire. Deadline to enroll is November 12th. On Friday the 13th FEVA will send the ID and password to participants in order to join in virtually.
