The invitation is directed to anyone, not necessarily associated with a Basque club, to bring their testimony and contribute to the reconstruction of the historic memory relative to the Basque presence in Argentina.  Anyone interested in participating can contact the nearest Basque club, preferably before March 12.

Buenos Aires, Argentina.   As part of the project supported by the Basque Government and the Federation of Basque-Argentine Entities (FEVA), all Basques who wish to, and who are able to be interviewed, are asked to join in the Historic Memory project whose goals is to conserve the voice and the experiences of those who came from the Basque Country, “they were witnesses and/or part of the formation of the Basque cause in Argentina.”

The project, whose antecedent was carried out in the United States, was announced by the Director of the Basque Community Abroad, Asier Vallejo, and the Delegate of Euskadi in Argentina-Mercosur, Sara Pagola at the FEVA meeting in April 2014.  The program provides interviewer training so interviews are carried out in a methodical and precise way.  Interviews will be recorded or filmed, and can be done in Basque or Spanish and will be added to some from Basque club that had been done some time ago as part of an initiative to preserve stories.

Right now the invitation is for men and women who were born in the Basque Country that for whatever reason, immigrated to Argentina.  You don’t have to be associated with a Basque institution, but you have to be ready to share your story, and even “enjoy telling your life story.” In hopes of reaching the most people, FEVA has asked the Basque clubs for information on native Basques – name, email, telephone – in their area, not just that of members but also that of non-members to invite them to participate.

Anyone interested in sharing their story should contact the nearest Basque club so that their information can be shared with the Federation.  In order to find out the possible number of interviews, FEVA asks that this information be sent preferably by March 12.
