This afternoon the exhibit, “The Bombing of Gernika,” curated by the Peace Museum in Gernika that arrived to Montevideo, thanks to the President of the Chamber and the Euskal Erria Basque Club will be inaugurated this afternoon. This will be followed by a lecture on the bombing by Dr. Xabier Irujo. In Salto, the Euskaldunen Taldea Basque Club will carry out a Euskal Festa on the weekend with a complete festival program that includes an international and national meeting of Basque clubs.
Montevideo, Uruguay. Today, Monday, December 4th, the inauguration of the exhibit “The Bombing of Gernika,” will take place at the Uruguayan House of Representatives beginning at 6:30pm. The exhibit has been curated by the Peace Museum Foundation in Gernika, and its opening at the Uruguayan capital was made possible thanks to the work by the Euskal Erria Basque club with the support of the President of the Chamber.
Participating at the event is the Chamber’s President, Jose Carlos Mahia; historian Xabier Irujo Amezaga; and President of the Euskal Erria Club in Montevideo, Agurtzane Aguado. The choir under the direction of de Francisco Simandoni will perform afterwards, along with a dantzari performing the Aurresku.
BASQUE FESTIVAL IN SALTO
Next weekend the Basque festivities will move to Salto, to the northwestern part of the country where the local Basque club the Saltoko Euskaldunen Taldea has announced the Salto Basque Festival with a program that will run Friday-Monday. Full program follows:

-Lecture on the Basque pioneer Pascual Harriague by local historian Alberto Eguiluz
-Opening of an exhibit on the bombing of Gernika by the Peace Museum in Gernika
-Signing of an agreement between the Saltoko Euskaldunen Taldea Basque Club and the Government of Salto and the presentation of land to the club for building a “Basque Space,” monument and public boardwalk in honor of the victims of Gernika, for Peace and democracy and against Fascism
