The Forum of Communities and Villa Nueva enjoyed an excellent debut in the 30th edition of the Festival of Communities in the city of Alta Gracia. The Euzko Etxea Basque Club, member of the Forum, was again responsible for representing the Basque culture at the event, from top to bottom on stage with music, costumes, and typical dances from the Basque Country.
Alta Gracia, Argentina. The Festival of Communities in Alta Gracia, in the Province of Cordoba, was held January 28-February 5th this year. The Festival celebrates its 30th anniversary this year and was attended by great figures and a large audience over the 8 nights, once again enjoying its usual success.
The Euzko Etxea Basque Club in Villa Maria represented the Basque culture at the event for the fourth year in a row. They did so by carrying an Ikurriña in the inaugural parade through the city passing by places like Tajamar, the Clock Tower and the famous local Jesuit Residence that has been declared as a world heritage by UNESCO. The festival’s main stage, where txikis, intermediates and adults from the Jai Alai Dance Group performed a Fandango and Arin Arin.
The Form of Communities of Villa Maria and Villa Nueva
Unlike prior editions, in this the 30th edition of the festival, the Euzko Etxea didn’t only represent the Basque community, but also the Forum of Communities of Villa Maria and Villa Nueva, an entity comprised of organizations in both communities. And so, traveling with the Basques and also participating in the festival were representatives from the Balearic House, the Family Association of Piedmont in Villa Maria, and the Syrian Lebanese Society also in Villa María.
