Sao Paulo, Brazil. The oldest club in Sao Paulo has launched its second photo contest, with a special invitation to members of Basque clubs and communities around the world. The hope is to reflect and bring awareness to the activity of the Basques in the world through photos reflecting moments of their activities and the work done by clubs in favor of Euskera, the Basque culture, contributions and Basque proposals, or the Basque Diaspora in general.
Deadline to submit photos is October 10th. Twelve photos will be chosen to be published in the Eusko Alkartasuna Basque Club’s 2018 paper calendar. The public will also be invited to participate to vote online for their favorite photos.
The goal of the contest is to disseminate and publicize Basque activity around the world, its festivals dances, meetings, customs, festivals, gastronomy, Euskera, art, sports or whatever other Basque cultural manifestation. Each participant is allowed to submit three photos.
Contest Rules:
1 – Theme: “The Basque Diaspora”
2 – Goal – Provide members of the Basque Diaspora, friends or travelers who love photography the opportunity to register the diversities in our Diaspora, including festivals, folkloric groups, customs, Euskera, work, gastronomy, art, sports and other aspects of our reality and contribution to the world.
3.1. The photo contest “The Basque Diaspora” is supported by the Eusko Alkartasuna Basque Club in Sao Paulo, and is open to members, friends, members of the Basque Diaspora and travelers.
3.2. Photos can be of events, or people as part of any activity in the Basque Diaspora in any country.
3.3. Each participant can only submit three photos.
4.1. Photos emailed to: centrobasco.ea.sp@gmail.com will be accepted until 10/10/17.
4.2 Each participant will have a registration number

5.1 Photos cannot reflect editing, or elements that weren’t part of the original photograph at the time it was taken.
5.2 Photos should be sent to the Basque club along with the registration page, photo captions, and signed authorization to use the photos.
5.3 Signed permissions by anyone appearing in the photo is also required.
5.4 The photo should follow the theme and be unedited, and not have been published in any other photo contest
6.1 Photos will be judged by a jury comprised of two professional photographers in Sao Paulo and who have been appointed by the organizers
6.2 The colors of the photos, aspects in composition and the message conveyed by the photographer will be part of the judging criteria
6.3 Winners will be notified by email or by telephone by 10/20/2017
6.4 Twelve photos will be chosen (through popular vote on social media) to become part of the 2018 Eusko Alkartasuna Basque Club calendar
7.1 Photographers of the first three photos selected will be awarded; winners will receive a certificate and their photos will become part of the club’s 2018 calendar
7.2 All photos, winner or no will become part of the club’s archive; they can be used for promotion of future contests, or any other way the club sees fit without any obligation or compensation to the photographers; if used they will be adequately credited
7.3 Each photographer can only win once
8.1 The jury is sovereign and their decision are final
8.2 Failure to comply to any of these rules is grounds for disqualification
8.3 Registration in the contest implies full acceptance of these rules
