The intensive winter course of HABE’s Euskara Munduan program, is going to Mendoza, Argentina for the first time, co-organized by FEVA and the local Basque club. The Basque club will hold the classes at the clubhouse from July 16-23, and will also lodge the teachers who will participate in the subsequent teacher training on the 23rd and 24th.
Mendoza, Argentina. The 2016 Winter (southern hemisphere) Barnetegi of HABE’s Euskara Munduan program will take place in Mendoza, jointly organized by the local Denak Bat Basque club and FEVA. As prior Barnetegis, the group that will gather at this second intensive course of 2016 is comprised of students/teachers of Basque clubs in various South American countries, specifically Argentina, Chile and Uruguay.
Classes will be held in the morning from 8-11 and from 11:30-1:00, and in the afternoon from 6-7pm (individual work) and again from 7:30-9:00pm. In regards to content, the priority will be on communication skills, always based on linguistic themes that they have worked on over the last few months online.
Teacher training
To continue the teacher meetings that began in January of 2015 in San Nicolas, this year it will be the 4th Teacher Training, after the barnetegi, on July 23-24. These days are reserved for reflection on language teaching and encourage exchanges of ideas and experiences among the teachers present.
Alicia Aguirre, teacher and president of the Denak Bat Basque club, told EuskalKultura.com how happy the community and the club are to be able to host Euskara Munduan: “We are really happy, for various reasons: on the one hand it is a barnetegi, an activity to learn and teach Euskera that is very important to the program, and on the other, because it is the first time that an activity with other Basque clubs has taken place in Mendoza. Finally, it is satisfying to know that they have faith in us to carry this out. The entire community at Denak Bat, the Board of Directors, but also the Basque students, are ready to welcome the teachers in training and work on the organization to that everything comes out perfectly. This is our goal,” the president said.
The club has announced that all activities will take place at the Euskal Etxea headquarters, located on Barcala 643, and meals and lodging will be at the Hotel Rincón Vasco, on Las Heras Street 590.
