The Semana Vasca in Necochea just concluded and has left us with a myriad of images that include Basques from both sides of the Atlantic in each enjoying the activities provided by the hosting Euzko Etxea: meetings, shows, meals, parades, and of course dances. Following is our new chronicle of Semana Nacional Vasca 2016 with one more photo gallery.
Necochea, Argentina. Continuing with the program, the main activities of Semana Nacional Vasca 2016 began on Friday. Delegations began arriving in the morning and by noon, almost everyone had arrived. On Friday afternoon, there were games in the Lillo Park and talks by Hator Hona and Gure Esku Dago. In the evening, Kalakan performed a concert, followed by dinner and the first dance. The concert took place in the Paris Theater that was filled to capacity to hear the Basque trio as well as musicians from the group Otxote Osasuna, who played before Kalakan and received warm applause and recognition by the audience.

Institutional meetings took place on Saturday morning. Along with the FEVA meeting there were also meetings of Basque libraries, muslaris, and directors of dance groups. There was also a training session for anyone working on the Memoria Bizia project. After the FEVA meeting, Basque officials met with Basque club representatives, and authorities from the national and provincial governments who presented the project “Basque Immigrant Route,” as part of the initiative of the National Directorate of Pluralism and Multiculturalism.
