Donostia-San Sebastian. The Etxepare Basque Institute and the Université de Pau et des Pays de L'Adour are working together to offer a lecturer position to teach Basque language and culture starting in fall of 2012. Due to the administrative calendar of the center, Etxepare published an urgent call yesterday to choose a person for the post. The details of the call are the following:
Working conditions
The lecturer’s salary will be 26,000 Euros gross, and at most will be required to teach 220 hours per course. In addition to language and Basque culture classes, he/she will be expected to organize conference and motivational activities.
This position is assigned to the Inter-University Department of Basque Studies (U.F.R. of Bayonne-Anglet-Biarritz).
The successful candidate will be an employee of the university for the purpose of this call, and sign a contract to be determined by the legislation of France which will be subject to the specific provisions laid down by the contracting university, in particular regarding the system of remuneration and tax regime that is applicable during the contract period.
The position of Basque language and culture lecturer does not imply any connection or administrative work at the Etxepare Basque Institute, and as such, this institute does not assume any liability of the contractual relationship between the lecturer and the university or derived from their record, especially for damages that may arise during the course of his/her duties.
Application requirements:
Hold a university degree preferably in Basque philology or Basque Studies or in Translation or Interpreting (Language A: Euskera).
Regarding languages hold the EGA title or its equivalent, as well as a level of French equivalent of B2.

Along with the two annexes, candidates should also attach the following documents to their applications:
-Photocopy of passport (or NAN/DNI or IFZ/NIF).
-Lesson plans for Basque language and culture. A summarized lesson plan for teaching the first two levels of Basque, including objectives, content, methodology, resources and bibliography is required. A summary of lesson plans for Basque cultural topics (literature, cinema, theater, sculpture…) will also be presented including objectives, content, methodology, resources and bibliography. The entire project should not be more than 5 pages (Arial 12 font – double spaced).
Candidates are not required to include documents describing merits mentioned in the resume but will be required to produce them if chosen.
Deadline to apply is June 4 at 10am.
List of the selected and rejected: On June 4 at 20:00 a provisional list of candidates will be published on the Etxepare Basque Institute’s website. Twenty-four hours will be allowed for deliberations with a definitive list being published on June 5.
