Donostia-San Sebastian. Thanks to the Etxepare Basque Institute and the Summer Course program of the University of the Basque Country, an online course entitled, “Training Course to Teach Euskera and Basque Culture at Foreign Universities. Excellence in Basque Studies (II)” will be offered beginning February 18.
The course is based on two previous editions that were offered face to face, and includes texts and video presentations from them.
Five Weeks
The course will be taught by Xabi Paya, Basque language and culture lecturer at the University of Pau in France. Students will have five weeks to work through four modules:
-Basque Studies, cultural studies and the cultural climate of the Iberian Peninsula
-Euskera as a second language
-Principal materials in Basque studies: language, anthropology, history, cinema and literature
-Basque studies working abroad: practical proposals
Open to Everyone
The course is particularly directed to those teachers who wish to teach Basque language and culture in other countries, as well as to professionals who want to bring these materials to people abroad and of course is open to anyone interested. In addition, the completion of this course will be taken into consideration by the Etxepare Institute at the time of selecting potential candidates to fill their lecturer posts in universities around the world.
