Eresbil is the name of the National Archive of Basque Music and the place where sheet music, books, graphic archives, sound files and any kind of documentation and information related to Basque music is kept. From its headquarters in Errenteria (Gipuzkoa) and its website, Eresbil has now provided a guide and a map of music and dance festivals slated for summer 2017 in the Basque Country.
Errenteria, Gipuzkoa. The compilation work was done by Eresbil itself, collecting information on festivals and dates for music and dance events throughout Euskal Herria, as well as a varied collection of styles, from jazz. rock, reggae, or blues to folk dance, or traditional Basque music, also classic music, or for example sailor songs, since there is a little bit of everything included in Basque music.
The map reaches from Angelu-Anglet to Donibane Lohizune, to Estella-Lizarra, Antsoain or Iruña-Pamplona.
With festivals that range from Errobi Festibala in Itsasu, in Lapurdi, to the jazz festivals in Gasteiz, Getxo, or Donostia, or for example the Folk Festival in Portugalete or others like BBK Live in Bilbao, the Folk Festival of the Bidasoa, the Mundakako Basque Music and Cook Festival, the Quincena-Hamabostaldia in Donostia, and without going further, the event that begins this Thursday in the mountains of Tolosa, in Urkizu, with the Et Inkarnatus Orkestra to welcome the summer solstice that is on its way to becoming, if not already, an annual tradition.
In all, there are nearly 40 festivals of all kinds and conditions.
