Donostia-San Sebastián. The English translation of Versos que el viento arrastra (Poems the Wind Blew in), by poet Karmelo C. Iribarren from Donostia, received the prestigious Highly Commended award, as well as being a finalist in the CLiPPA, Centre for Literacy in Primary Poetry Awards, in the United Kingdom, according to the Etxepare Basque Institute. The original version in Spanish was published in 2010.

The jury said that this book of children’s poems, illustrated by Riya Chowdhury, and translated by Lawrence Schimel, published by Emma Press is “a book to take with you, and proof that poetry is ideas, thoughts and emotions capture in words.”
This is the first time that a translated work has been a finalist since the CLiPPA began in 2003, the only in the country dedicated to children’s poetry.
