Buenos Aires, Argentina. The city of Buenos Aires was the witness of various acts to complete the 100th anniversary since on May 11, 1919, and with the presence of the Argentine president at the time, Victorino de La Plaza and the local mayor Arturo Gramajo planted a sapling from the Tree of Gernika next to the Government headquarters. The musical tribute paid by the Denak Bat Camerata in Buenos Aires, directed by Xabier Iñaki de Arza Blanco, took place on October 6th at the Kirchner Cultural Center in the capital city.
Also participating in the concert by the Denak Bat Camerata in the city of Buenos Aires directed by Maestro Xabier Iñaki de Arza, were the Lagun Onak Choir directed by Miguel Angel Pesce, and the I Cantori della Colombo and Coral Todos los Santos Choirs, the latter also under the direction of Arza Blanco. This all serves as a sign of the important, constant and often quiet contribution that musicians, artists and various formations offer from the Basque Diaspora in this case to the world of music and culture.

The director explained that it was a tribue to the oak but also to the victims of the Bombing of Gernika that occurred in 1937, and so this is why they began with Requiem en re menor by Mozart. About “Gernika,” the audience had the lyrics in Basque and its Spanish translation, the original by Nemesio Etxaniz.
